German Business confidence rises to 6-month high
FXStreet (Mumbai) - The data released by the German research institute, IFO showed the business confidence rose to a six-month high in January, as the outlook for Europe's biggest economy continues to brighten.
The closely watched Business climate index rose to 106.7 this month from 105.5 points in December, the think tank said in a statement. It was the third monthly rise in a row. Meanwhile, the Current Assessment Index increased to 111.7 in January, while the Business Expectations Index, which measures attitudes toward business prospects over the next six months, improved at a slower than expected rate to 102.0.
The monthly index published by the IFO are based on a survey of around 7,000 German firms in the manufacturing, construction, wholesale and retail sectors.
