Markets will remain vigilant on Greece next week – TDS
FXStreet (Edinburgh) - Strategists at TD Securities assessed the next events in the Greek calendar.
Key Quotes
“Greece is scheduled to continue its “technical work” on Monday after the Orthodox Easter long weekend, and the Euro Working Group has reportedly given Greece a deadline of the end of next week to submit a comprehensive proposal of reforms, so that it can be studied and debated ahead of the Eurogroup meeting on the 24th”.
“Greece is finding it increasingly difficult to come up with the cash that it needs to make repayments to the IMF and to pay out government salaries and pensions, so needs to come to an agreement soon in order to release its remaining bailout funds”.
“We expect Greece to be discussed at the IMF meetings in Washington at the end of the week, and we’ll be keeping an eye out for any word from ‘sources’ as to how close Greece is now to getting its funding released”.
“The IMF meetings are always more important for what is said behind closed doors rather than in the public seminars”.
